Děsí vás koronavirus? Jak mám uklidnit staré rodiče?

Mým rodičům je oběma už přes sedmdesát, oba jsou celkem zdraví, v dobré kondici vzhledem ke svému věku. Žijí poměrně aktivně, od mládí jsou oba nadšenými turisty a minimálně jednou týdně si spolu vyrazí na nějakou delší procházku, klidně i na větší pěší výlet. Chodí do divadla, na koncerty, párkrát do měsíce si jdou sednout na kafe a dortík do nějaké kavárny. Vždycky jsem měla radost, jak jsou soběstační a jak pestře dokážou ve svém věku žít. Jenže teď je nepoznávám.
Na vině je koronavirus. Oba dva totálně podlehli panice. Dokud se to nerozšířilo do Evropy, tak to ještě šlo. Ale ve chvíli, kdy se virus objevil v Itálii a v našich sousedních státech se jejich chování změnilo. Sledovali všechny zprávy, četli články na internetu a usoudili, že jim jde o život. Snažili jsme se jim s manželem domlouvat, uklidňovat je, vysvětlovat, ale bez výsledku. Oba dva se rozhodli, že dokud ten virus bude řádit, oni se vzdají všech svých aktivit a dokonce nás příšerným citovým nátlakem donutili, abychom jim zajistili velký nákup zásob.
Sepsali sáhodlouhý seznam a požádali nás, abychom jim to dojeli nakoupit, že my jsme mladí a nejsme virem tak ohrožení a oni už nikam do davů chodit nebudou. Chtěli jsme to odmítnout a vysvětlit jim, že něco takového je zbytečné, ale nakonec jsme podlehli. Oni byli tak vynervovaní, až jsme měli pocit, že když jim ten nákup nepřivezeme, nepřežijí to. Nakonec jsme si s mužem řekli, že jsou to už přece jenom staříci a tak jim vyhovíme.
Při tom nakupování jsme se oba ale styděli, to přiznávám otevřeně. Zásoby jak před třicetiletou válkou. Hrůza. Přivezli jsme jim to, já jsem to mamince pomohla doma uložit a zorganizovat a oni se viditelně uklidnili.
No a teď přišla další fáze. Jakmile se koronavirus objevil u těch několika lidí u nás, rodiče nám zakázali je navštěvovat, dočetli se, že přenašečí mohou být i lidé bez příznaků a oni nemíní nic riskovat, když nejvyšší úmrtnost je u starších lidí. Respektujeme to, na sílu se k nim cpát nebudeme. Sami sobě stanovili karanténu a v podstatě už druhý týden vůbec nevycházejí z bytu. Jsme v kontaktu jen po telefonu. Když přijde řeč na to, zda své obavy nepřehánějí, odpoví nám, že jsou prostě opatrní a my jsme zase moc volnomyšlenkářští a celý ten koronavirus nemístě zlehčujeme.
Chtěla bych se zeptat, zda jste na tom vy nebo někdo z vašeho okolí podobě co se týká paniky a přehnaného strachu. Pokud patříte k těm, kteří z toho sice mají respekt, ale snaží se zůstat v klidu, nenapadá vás, jak rodičům vysvětlit, že je jejich chování přehnané a neadekvátní?
